Puppies in Parachutes : RCAF 418 Squadron's Mascot Revived

If you think it doesn't get much cuter than a puppy in a parachute, you are almost right

What if I said "puppies in parachutes in planes"?

Yup, that's right! And nope, you are not dreaming!

Little Linus, a rescue from Second Chance Animal Rescue Society (SCARS) came to visit the Alberta Aviation Museum and was volunteered by his furever momma Laura to come model the 418 Squadron's parachute that was created in 1955 for Royal Canadian Airforce mascot Butch - and I think he did it justice!

Butch, just like Linus, was also a rescue pup. He was found in 1955 injured and in rough shape by the airfield known as the Edmonton City Centre Airport. He was adopted by the 418 crewmen, nursed back to health and quickly became the Squadron's mascot. They even had a parachute made for him and he earned the title Leading Aircraftsman (LAC), logging up to 50 flight hours! That is pretty impressive...

It was pretty exciting to meet Linus and what a sweet, gentle soul he is! He was very calm, given strangers were around him and he was in a parachute.

He even let us carry him (safely) inside our B-25 Mitchell! I don't recommend trying this one at home though - Laura, myself and 3-4 museum staff members were on hand to complete this task!

A huge thank you to the Alberta Aviation Museum for inviting me to be part of this, as well as to Laura and Linus of course! For this shoot earlier this month and for coming back to the big grand reopening May 16th of the 418 Squadron exhibit and gallery space within the Alberta Aviation Museum.
